I’m Shaking

Hello friends!

Here’s just a quick post on what I do when I workout. When I do this I feel like I’m going to die. I know I’m going to be so sore tomorrow from this. YAY *sarcasm*. I’m shaking as I writing this haha!! Anyways, I’m here to share what I do so let’s get into it!

So first off I go on a quick run, around an mile (pathetic I know but it hurts my knee to run for a long time, if you don’t know the story you can read about it here) then I do these two workouts (done by the amazing Allegra Louise on YouTube!). These are both targeted workouts but most definitely work your whole body and are body weight workouts. Then I always, always stretch after, do a little yoga, and some meditation, make fun of me if you want but it’s amazing.

I hope this helps any of you looking for workouts or encourage you to workout! It’s so rewarding!

Have an awesome week all!

Channeling My Inner Julia Child | Recipe

WHOOP WHOOP!! Two posts in one day! I’m so proud of myself for being so motivated ha!

For some odd reason I have been craving avocado like no other the last two weeks, so today I was scrolling through my Pinterest feed and I saw the most delicious looking dish, and guess what one of the main ingredients was? You guessed it, avocado. I basically went crazy and got super happy and told my mom that I was going to make dinner tonight. Let me tell ya it was so good. Like wooooowwwwww. I also keep telling myself that I should probably figure out how to cook (I’m terrible at it) because one day I will move out and I will need to feed myself ha.

Here’s some pictures to make your mouth water 😉 (recipe below)

Chicken and Avocado Salad with Lime and Cilantro

Ingredients:
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded into large pieces (my mom and I think that this would taste just as good or even better if the chicken was grilled!!)
2 medium avocados, diced
1 T + 1 T fresh squeezed lime juice
salt, to taste (I didn’t use too much salt because you can always add more at the table.)
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion
1/2 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro (or chop it more coarsely if you prefer)
2 T mayo or light mayo

Instructions:

Shred the chicken apart until you have 2 cups of chicken shredded into fairly large chunks. Dice the avocados into medium-sized pieces, mix with 1 T of the lime juice, and season avocado with salt to taste.  Thinly slice the green onion and finely chop the cilantro.  Mix mayo and 1 T lime juice to make the dressing.

Put the chicken into a bowl large enough to hold all the salad ingredients. Add the sliced green onions and dressing and toss until all the chicken is coated with dressing.  Add the avocado and any lime juice in the bottom of the bowl and gently combine with the chicken.  Then add the chopped cilantro and gently mix into the salad, just until it is barely combined.

This so yummy! I hope you try it out and enjoy!

Bon appétit!

New Discoveries on YouTube!

Hello all!

I have been gone all this week because (get ready for my excuses) I have been working everyday this week except Monday for four or five hours and my laptop, which is basically my child, may or may not have fallen off my bed (I’m on the top bunk) because I fell asleep watching Netflix and may or may not have had some serious damage done to the poor thing so as a result it has been acting alllll funky and it makes me want to cry. Anyways. Onwards.

It’s honestly so easy to become bored with Netflix so I have come across some very bingeable YouTubers that you’ve gotta check out!

1. Elanna Pecherle

2. Bianca8198

3. Allegra Louise

4. Melissa Merk

5. Chelsea Trevor

6. Alexandrea Garza

7. Jeanine Amapola

8. Keaton Milburn

9. Aspyn and Parker

10. Dacey Hapa

Numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9 on the list I have been watching for well over a year but totally binge-worthy and my favorites, the rest are people I have recently discovered on YouTube and are fairly new to me but totally binge-worthy as well!!

Hope you enjoy!

Until next time

My Summer Skin + Hair Favs

Hello all and happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Today I am going to be sharing some of my skin care favorites (other than sunscreen) that I use exclusively in the summertime! Also, this is the first time I have ever taken photos for my post, I realize that they are (clearly) not the best quality. Let me tell ya, you would think that taking a picture of something and putting it on the internet is easy. But it’s not, so please bear with me as I figure it all out! Now enough talking, let’s get into it!

1.  The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter

DSCN0831

My skin gets sooo dry from swimming in my pool, like it’s bad, in the past my skin has looked like scales. Gross, I know. I tend to use this at night because it’s so thick I like to put it on before bed and let it soak in while I’m sleeping. Plus the way this smells it’s heavenly. I also like the coconut and satsuma body butters from the Body Shop!

2. Nivea Skin Firming and Toning Gel Cream with Q10 Plus

DSCN0832

I feel like this is an unspoken beauty product and might be weird for me to talk about but hey, the more firm and toned my legs look the better sooooo here you go. Aside from working out and doing a lot of targeted leg workouts this is the best thing I have come across to help tone and firm yo legs and gluteus maximus.

3. Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Body Lotion

DSCN0833

I like this lotion because it is much lighter than The Body Shop ones and because of the scents. OH MY THEY SMELL SO SO SO SO GOOD. Some of my other favorite scents are Secret Wonderland, Pink Chiffon, and Paris Amour.

4. Aveeno Smart Essentials Daily Nourishing Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

DSCN0834

I love this because it’s so moisturizing and it has SPF in it, which makes it even better. I struggle with really dry skin, as I said before and this is a fabulous invention.

5. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

DSCN0836

I use this as a lip balm even though it’s for your cuticles. But it works so well! The only downside of this is that it doesn’t have SPF, but that’s because I don’t use it what it’s for. So if you are looking for a lip balm with SPF in it here are a few; Sun Bum, Maybelline Baby Lips, EOS Lemon Drop, Coola Liplux, and last but not least Yes To Pomegranate Lip Butter.

6. Urban Decay Cosmetics De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

DSCN0838

This stuff is ah-mazing!!!! It gets soo stinking hot where I live and this helps my makeup actually stay on my face and last all day!

7. Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo

DSCN0842

By far my favorite dry shampoo out there! Also, you get a lot of product for the price! Fun embarrassing fact: this smells like a babies, some people don’t like it but I personally love it because I love children.

8. Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

DSCN0844

This is also my favorite texturizing spray by far (Not Your Mother’s just knows how to do it!). This does leave a textured feeling to your hair (does that sentence even make sense?!). I feel like a lot of people have preconceived ideas about any sea salt spray and that it should just have a textured look and not a textured feeling, but they all do so just be aware of that.

9. Dove Ultimate Go Fresh Revive Deodorant Stick

DSCN0846

This is like the only deodorant that actually works on me. Love this one and the Dove Cucumber one!

And now the very last product…hallelujah!

10. Victoria’s Secret PINK Fresh & Clean Body Mist

DSCN0847

This is such an amazing summer scent! Some other amazing summer scents from PINK are; Sun Kissed, Wild & Breezy, and Wild at Heart.

Anddd that’s a wrap people! If you stuck around till the end of this postKUDOS TO YOU! You all get a great big virtual hug!

hope you enjoyed! as always 🙂

My Top Summer Reads!!

Sitting at the breakfast table at almost 11 at night eating a chocolate pie all by myself (those wild Friday nights right?) trying to think of something that would make a good blog post and then it struck me, I work at the library, I love reading, and I haven’t written a post on anything to do with reading so voila! Here are some of my favorite books!

The_Selection_Cover

Ok if you haven’t read this series I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. They are soooooo good!!!

10757749

This is one of my all time favorite books, I can totally relate to it because I was a little ballerina for around four years and I loved it.

612r8PEDS5L__SX258_BO1,204,203,200_

This offers some pretty interesting insight into things about nutrition and beauty that I had never thought of before.

51hXETtmjhL__SX258_BO1,204,203,200_

Jessica Alba is just altogether perfect, like can we just take a moment to appreciate her. Plus, who else is excited for The Honest Company’s Honest Beauty line to come out in the fall???

Smashwordsborderfrontonly

So you know how you can inhale food? Well I inhaled this book, I was shelving and this book caught my eye, so on my break I checked it out and read it cover to cover in two nights. It gets better, Shannon also has a blog (www.thesimplyluxuriouslife.com) it’s amazing.

4c5d8be332bfb9399cc8ed1b2836f439

I love love love anything that has to do with France or anything French, my mom calls me a Francophile and this book is amazing. I checked it out from the library and then it went missing, my mom and sis had taken it and read it too, they loved it just as much as me.

9781593080341_p0_v4_s260x420

This is honestly my all time favorite book. No shame people. I love Sherlock Holmes. I love reading this when I’m laying out tanning because it requires concentration and it takes my mind off how hot it is outside haha!

Well those are all I have for now, I hope you will pick up some of these and enjoy them this summer, they are all totally worth it! Enjoy!

have an awesome weekend, talk to you again on monday

Finding Peace in the Little Things

Don’t you just love those moments when you feel at peace with everything in the world? Even when you could be in a rough place or having a bad day. That peace could last for seconds, minutes, or hours. But that feeling is the most satisfying thing in the world. I seem to find peace in the oddest of things. And the smallest. But hey, as long as I’m finding some right?

It makes me laugh to myself because one thing that I love doing on the daily that just takes 15 minutes is doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen. My siblings laugh at me but they all know that when I do dishes to clear out of the kitchen and breakfast area and it’s just me and my music. I love it. I think that when I started to clean the kitchen all the time was because my mom would get stressed with all us kids and all the work she had to do and she loves a clean kitchen so to help her out I would clean the kitchen and try to make it spotless. Through that I came to love the process. I tune everyone out (not easy in a house of eight let me tell ya) and it’s just me, my music, and my thoughts. It is so peaceful…to me at least.

Another thing that I think is more universally peaceful than doing the dishes is taking a walk. Last night I was studying for my last final which was today (it’s finally summer for me whoop whoop!!) and I was like “I just need to get out of the house for ten minutes” and so I got my dog and took a walk, it wasn’t very long but it was so nice and still light out. It was lovely.

11401180_920929734641328_7734896323990745225_n

that’s my dog Hancock and I (sometimes I like dogs 🙂 )

Another thing that I find peace in is music. Do you have a song that when it comes on you just immediately relax and it just makes you so happy you just have to stop, be still, and listen to it? I make things so sound weird haha!! Anyways, that song for me is Hanging By A Moment by Lifehouse, I don’t know why but it just makes me happy and it’s a beautiful song.

I feel like people, myself included, get so busy with the day-to-day things and we forget to take time for ourselves, even if it’s just fifteen minutes, and just relax and have that sense of peace. It could be in the smallest, most ridiculous thing ever, but it’s what matters or “speaks” to you.

Now after I shared the embarrassing things I find peace in I hope you all will be encouraged and have a fantastic weekend!

So this might be super cheesy but I was listening to Who Says by Selena Gomez on Pandora and that song used to be my favs in like 8th grade haha. Anyways that song inspired this post. I haven’t done a motivation board in awhile so I thought that this would make a good motivation board post topic (that was a mouthful!). Anyways, listen to the song and really take the words to heart because ALL of you are amazing and beautiful.

My Favorite Smoothie Recipe

Hello all! I am back again today with my recipe for my favorite smoothie! I drink smoothies almost everyday, I prefer to have a smoothie that tastes good and is good for you over a sugary soda or slurpee, which can be hard because it’s so hot out. But trust me taking the time to make something that is good for and having that over something you go through a drive-thru to get has a very rewarding feeling (that sounds odd, but let’s be real we all feel like that at some point).

Now I prefer my smoothies to have a lot of greens with some fruit but I like the main ingredient(s) to be kale, spinach, or both. Also, I always, always, always, put a scoop of Metamucil Fiber in my smoothie.

Metamucil_OrangeSmooth_72doses_Hero

This helps dumb down the very “plant” flavor that all the greens leave, plus it has great health benefits!!

Now enough jabbering and onto the recipe.

In a blender put about 1 cup of water (you can use milk or a protein drink as your liquid, I don’t though because I’m lactose intolerant), then add in a hand full of spinach and a handful of kale (I am very generous with both), add in a scoop of Metamucil, then add a handful of frozen blueberries and a handful strawberries, blend until a liquid (you might have to add a little more liquid depending on how much of the drink you are going to make), pour into a glass and drink up!

I have this for breakfast almost every morning and I make enough so that it fills me up and this is also an awesome pick-me-up throughout the day!

Enjoy!!
